The Dollarbird ( Eurystomus orientalis ) 27.5 - 31.5 cm

The Dollarbird never fails to attract attention, thanks to it's name. Why the unique name - Dollarbird? There are numerous explanation offered but the most common one heard make reference to the $ shape form of this bird when it's flying. I will have a closer observation the next time I encounter this bird again.

It's favorite perch is often on dead tree tops. Habitat include open broadleaved forest, plantations, mangrove and island forest up to 1500 meters above sea level.

Here are 3 photos for sharing.

Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!
