The Mountain Bul Bul (Hypsipetes mcclellandii) 21 - 24 cm

Often fondly referred to amongst birders as the 'punky bird'; mainly due to the 'spikey vent' on it's head. It makes the more seasoned birders recall the era where young men spotted  'tomahawk' style hairdos. This specie of the Bul Bul family is distinctly different from the others in the family for the same reason.

They could be found in broadleaved and open forest from 800 - 2590 meters above sea level. Ref: Birds of SEA by C. Robson.
