Meet 'Buffy' the Buff-necked Woodpecker (Meiglptes tukki) 21 cm

It flew and perched almost silently in the typical style typical of a woodpecker -  clinging to the side of a tree with it's claws. The light in the forest was low and an immediate ID was not possible. So it was shoot first ID later. It turned out to be a wonderful find. However it did not stay long. After a few pecks on the bark of the tree bark it decided to forage elsewhere and flew as silently as it had arrived - into the thicket of the forest.

Below are 3 photos for sharing.

Have a nice day! Cheers!
