The Blue-banded Kingfisher (Alcedo euryzona) 20-20.5 cm

Largely due to it being rare this is another kingfisher much sort after by birders and bird photographers. I was indeed very lucky to make the encounter with this 'king' on my my very first visit. Others have tried many times but was not successful. So it was with delight that I clicked away only after a short wait.

The Blue-Banded Kingfisher ( Alcedo euryzona ) 20 - 20.5 cm

It was a lucky encounter with this rare King. Considered the rarer one amongst the other Kingfisher family and hence a highly 'priced catch' by bird watchers and bird photographers alike. It is certain to give either one the adrenalin rush, if sighted.

It's usual habitat is along medium to large streams in evergreen broadleaved forests. Could sometimes be found in smaller streams at up to 825 meters above sea level.

Here are photos for sharing.

Have a great day! Cheers!
