Trekking thru' the 'Lost World of Sabah' aka Maliau Basin - Part IV

THE PITCHER PLANTS OF MALIAU BASIN

It was the first time I have seen so many types of Pitcher Plants in one forest! The experience simply overwhelms me with great excitement and anticipation to 'discover' more and other different types as we trekked along the trails which changes from typical tropical to mossy or rocky. Wow! And with the change the flora and fauna changes with it. Pitcher Plants are to be found in the more damp and mossy parts of the Maliau Basin jungle trails.

Here are pix showing the wide variants, from the tiny ones to one of the biggest in the world!

Nepenthes reinwardiiana

   Nepenthes stenophylla
